On 14th July, Kwasi was delighted to host the final of the Spelthorne Business Plan Competition. Kwasi established the Competition in partnership with Spelthorne Borough Council in 2013 to identify and support budding entrepreneurs in the Borough, and the annual competition has supported some fantastic winners.
This year’s five finalists presented their business plans to a panel of expert judges at the BP headquarters in Sunbury on Thames. The judges assessed the business plans on a number of criteria, including the commercial potential, innovative nature and technical feasibility of the ideas, as well as the economic viability of the business and the potential for sustainability.
All five finalists were of a very high standard, but the overall winner was Julie Sebastiano for The Village Pottery and Craft Centre. The Centre is based in Shepperton and provides pottery and crafting services to the local community, including classes, workshops and events for all ages and abilities.
Julie received £3500 in funding, mentoring support, and free website and logo design for her winning pitch.
The second-place prize of £1000 was awarded to Holly Hobbs for her company Aspiring Apprentice, which helps young people to secure their dream apprenticeship. The third-place prize of £200 was awarded to Tracy Tomkins Therapist.
Kwasi would like to congratulate the winners and wish all participants the best as they develop their businesses going forward.
