On 4th March, Kwasi officially launched the Spelthorne Youth Hub and the ‘I Choose Local’ app, two new services that will help local young people develop their skills and kickstart their careers.
Young people have been hit hard by the pandemic, and as we build back better it is vital that we help them into employment. The Spelthorne Youth Hub will bring together various stakeholders, including the Department of Work and Pensions, local authorities, educational institutions, social housing providers and local businesses, to provide work experience, mentoring, apprenticeships and other tailored support. The Spelthorne Youth Hub is one of 140 Youth Hubs that the DWP is launching as part of the Government’s £30bn Plan for Jobs.
‘I Choose Local’ was created by students at Brooklands College and is dedicated to finding employment and skills opportunities in Spelthorne for young people aged 16 to 24.
Kwasi would like to thank Spelthorne Council and the I Choose Local team for driving these important initiatives forward.
