On Friday 8th March, Kwasi was pleased to visit Clarendon Primary School in Ashford as they took part in the Let Girls Play Campaign’s 'Biggest Ever Football Session'.
The Football Association (FA) launched #LetGirlsPlay with the aim of giving girls the same football opportunities as boys in schools and clubs. Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the ‘Biggest Ever Football Session’ aimed to get as many girls as possible in school all playing football on the same day. Kwasi was pleased to hear that, this year, three schools in Spelthorne participated in the event; Clarendon Primary, Springfield Primary, and Thamesmead School.
Kwasi had the opportunity to see Clarendon Primary School’s team warm up and hone their technique before the big game. Kwasi was also able to speak with a few of the pupils and was very impressed by their enthusiasm for the sport.
Kwasi enjoyed speaking with the school’s PE teacher, Mr King, their football coach, Mr Kanek, and the Head Teacher, Mr Neale. Kwasi appreciated the importance given to the initiative. It is great to see a love of sports being developed from such a young age.
