For many people, gambling is an enjoyable pastime, and a healthy gambling industry makes an important contribution to the economy. However, for some people, gambling can become a serious problem and it is essential that we protect those who gamble from harm.
On 28th October, Kwasi visited the William Hill Bookmakers in Sunbury-on-Thames. The visit gave Kwasi an opportunity to see and hear first-hand how William Hill is supporting its employees, its customers and the wider community through various employee, sustainability and safer gambling initiatives.
William Hill is working to ensure a safe gambling environment for its online customers, by using technology to identify people that are at risk of gambling harm, and to protect young and vulnerable people, educating them about gambling and ensuring those that need treatment can get it.
The Government has launched a review of gambling regulations, which is examining restrictions for online gambling, marketing, advertising, the powers of the Gambling Commission, and extra protections for young adults. The Government will set out its findings in a White Paper in due course.
