Kwasi met with representatives from the Challenge Network, a national charity that encourages people across generations, ethnic groups and incomes to come together, to build a stronger and more cohesive society. This June, the charity is coming to Staines to run a programme as part the Government's National Citizen Service initiative: a non-military, voluntary national service that gives 16 and 17-year-olds the opportunity to do exciting outdoor activities, meet new people and make a real difference to their local area. The programme will take about 180 young people from across Spelthorne, split them into teams of about 12 and put them through a four part programme over three weeks and four weekends.
Kwasi said:
"The programme marks a great opportunity for young people locally, and I will be doing everything I can to support it. I would really encourage local 16 and 17-year-olds to look out for more information in school and college and get involved! I hope everybody can help spread the word."
