In early October, Kwasi met with representatives of major local businesses from a range of sectors, including Ametek Aerospace & Defense, Dnata, Cardinal Logistics, FT Technologies, McDonalds, Pinewood Studios, Synter Jaguar Land Rover, Thames Club and several others.
The lunch was an excellent opportunity for business leaders to share their experiences and concerns with both Kwasi and representatives from Spelthorne Borough Council. There was a very productive roundtable discussion about existing Government schemes, and how other local and national schemes could benefit businesses in Spelthorne.
Kwasi was delighted that several business leaders pointed to the Kickstart Scheme as an effective, game-changing initiative. As part of the government’s Plan for Jobs, the £2 billion Kickstart Scheme provided funding to employers to create jobs for 16- to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit.
Kwasi emphasised that the Government is fully focused on pro-business agenda, which will cut unnecessary red tape and will support businesses to invest and grow. Spelthorne is lucky to have such a thriving local business community, and Kwasi is keen to see even stronger connections between businesses and Spelthorne Borough Council.
