Kwasi launched the Spelthorne Business Plan Competition in 2013 as a way of identifying budding local entrepreneurs. The idea was inspired by a visit to Brooklands College, where Kwasi met students with lots of exciting ideas and practical skills.

The Competition encourages residents, local business sponsors and Spelthorne Borough Council to work together to encourage and celebrate local business life.

2019 saw the 6th annual competition, with a top prize of a package of £3,500 plus mentoring support and free website and logo design.

The six best entries were given a programme of mentoring and training to help them prepare, and then invited to present their business plan to a panel of expert judges at a Dragons’ Den style final hosted at BP.

This year’s winners were Ella-Wood Perfectly Natural a natural soap and cosmetic company run by Dawn Grealy and Alison Moody.
